Show Your PEEPS(R) How Much You Love Them This Valentine’s Day

Like a lot of people, I associate foods with many of my happiest memories. Thanksgiving always makes me think of my Gramps and aunts, uncles and cousins in Ohio. Matzo ball soup and kasha remind me of many Hanukkahs spent with my husband’s family in California.

Another food that always brings a smile to my face is PEEPS®! You know, those sugar-covered marshmallow shaped chicks that used to only show up at Easter. Many people count the days between Christmases, but I always counted the days between Easters because I missed my PEEPS®

Then, miraculously, one year they started showing up at other holidays. I’ve had ghosts, pumpkins and orange chicks at Halloween; Christmas-colored chicks, gingerbread men and sugar-cookie flavored chicks at Christmas; and hearts and pink chicks for Valentine’s Day.

This year, I was lucky enough to receive a wonderful box of Valentine’s PEEPS® to review. I admit, I was practically giddy when I arrived home to find a box on my front porch bearing the well-known blue and yellow PEEPS® logo. When I opened the box, I was thrilled to find a wide variety of flavors – some that I had never even heard of.

The treats include:

  • PEEPS® Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Crème Flavored Chicks
  • PEEPS® Chocolate Mousse Flavored Marshmallow Bears
  • PEEPS® Chocolate Covered Raspberry Flavored Hearts
  • PEEPS® Strawberry Crème Flavored Hearts
  • PEEPS® Vanilla Crème Flavored Hearts
  • PEEPS® Sugar-Free Marshmallow Hearts (I know this will make many PEEPS® lovers happy!)
  • PEEPS® Marshmallow Hearts (still my #1 favorite).

Of course, we had to do a taste test of all of the new flavors. The chocolate covered marshmallows were all new to me.

The Vanilla Crème and Strawberry Crème flavored hearts definitely had an added boost of flavor compared to the traditional marshmallow hearts. Oh, and if you love chocolate, I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy any of the chocolate dipped PEEPS®.

When it is all said and done, those childhood memories still win out … I am a PEEPS® traditionalist. My favorites were the original PEEPS® Marshmallow Hearts.

After testing all of these PEEPS® you might think I am PEEPed out… you are wrong. I could eat these things till the cows (or chicks) come home!

I recommend that you head out and get some PEEPS® for your sweetie this Valentine’s Day. All of your valentines, young and young-at-heart, would surely feel loved if given such a sweet and delicious treat.

What are your favorite PEEPS®? Do you like the originals best, or is one of the exciting new flavors your favorite?
